Iot DevOps Platform Engineer

Cortech Talent Solutions Ltd

job description

At our core, we are innovators bridging the gap between digital intelligence and physical industry. We operate across high-impact sectors—including energy, aerospace, manufacturing, and nuclear—where reliability isn’t just a goal, it’s a requirement. Our culture is built on ownership and hands-on engineering; we’ve built a proven IoT platform that is already operational, and we are now looking for the right person to help us scale it from a hundred instances to thousands of devices. We value a collaborative environment where your ideas directly shape the deployment of cutting-edge technology in demanding industrial environments.

About the Role

As a Mid-Level IoT DevOps Platform Engineer, you will take the reins of a scaling infrastructure. This isn’t a “start from zero” role; the foundation is solid, with 30% of the workload handled by expert outsourcing, allowing you to focus on optimization and rollout. You will blend the worlds of cloud-based server management with real-world IoT connectivity, managing Linux and Docker environments while ensuring data flows seamlessly from industrial sensors to the cloud. Whether you are building complex Node-RED flows or commissioning LoRaWAN gateways in the field, you will be the technical lead ensuring our platform remains secure, scalable, and indispensable to our customers.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • IoT Orchestration: Deploy and support connected devices using Node‑RED, building new flows and data integrations for ThingsBoard.

  • Connectivity Management: Configure and manage LoRaWAN LNS (Chirpstack) on gateways and ensure reliable device-to-cloud flow.

  • Infrastructure Support: Manage Linux VMs, Docker environments, and basic security rules via Azure NSGs and Cloudflare.

  • Protocol Integration: Ensure secure data transmission using HTTP/MQTT, APIs, Modbus‑TCP, and OPC‑UA.

  • Validation & Commissioning: Troubleshoot devices and gateways in the field, ensuring robust network connectivity.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with customer teams to onboard new devices, creating clear runbooks and documentation.

  • Platform Evolution: Maintain and enhance dashboards and workflows within the ThingsBoard environment.

What You’ll Bring

  • Core Tech: Strong experience with Node‑RED and hands-on experience with LoRaWAN/Chirpstack.

  • Systems Admin: Practical Linux and Docker administration skills.

  • Connectivity: Knowledge of HTTP/MQTT, JSON payloads, and industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA).

  • Security Mindset: Understanding of Azure NSGs, VPNs, and Cloudflare Access.

  • Problem Solving: A self-starter attitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-layered IoT systems.
