Housing Officer

Bristol City Council

Job description

Bristol City Council is looking for a dedicated Housing Officer to join our Tenancy Management team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is a front-line role where you will take responsibility for a specific patch in Bristol, acting as a key advocate for residents while ensuring our estates remain safe and welcoming environments. The work is fast-paced and unpredictable; you might spend your morning coordinating with the police on anti-social behavior cases and your afternoon visiting vulnerable tenants alongside support workers. If you are an ambitious professional with a public sector background who wants to tackle the real-world challenges of social housing, this role offers a rewarding platform to make a tangible difference in our community.

Requirements, qualifications and Skills

• Experience of housing or public sector services.

• An understanding of issues affecting social housing tenants.

• Good inter-personal skills and be able to work with a broad range of people.

• Collaborate with partner agencies, support services and the police.

• Demonstrate experience of equalities and diversity issues.

• This role is subject to a Basic DBS Check.

Benefits and Inclusion

Working for Bristol City Council means joining a vibrant local authority that truly values its people. We offer a highly supportive environment featuring hybrid working arrangements, allowing you to balance home and office work effectively. Our comprehensive rewards package includes membership in the Local Government Pension scheme, flexitime, and a generous annual leave allowance. As a Disability Confident employer, we are committed to building a workforce that reflects the diverse population we serve, ensuring that all talented individuals have the support and reasonable adjustments needed to thrive in their careers.
