Expert Analysis
In 2026, the utility sector remains a recession-proof career path. Lanes Group’s 4-on, 4-off model is a staple for HGV drivers seeking a better work-life balance than traditional long-haul roles. The £15.50 rate is competitive for regional tanker work, especially when paired with their “half-billion-pound” stability.
Location & Logistics Guide
Shipley and the wider Leeds/York corridor serve as central logistical nodes for Yorkshire’s water infrastructure. Operating from these hubs allows for rapid response to utility sites via the M62 and A1(M). Knowledge of regional wastewater treatment facilities is key for efficient turnaround during tanker cycles.
