Star Salford Academy is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Head of Year to lead our incoming cohort starting in September 2026. As a relatively new school that opened in 2023, we are at an exciting stage of growth. Our academy is built on a leadership specialism, combining a high-standard academic curriculum with a program designed to foster character and social action. Who We’re Looking For

Education: 5 GCSEs (Grade 9-4/A*-C) including English and Maths.

Experience: Proven experience working with young people and providing pastoral support within an educational setting.

Communication: Ability to speak confidently in front of large groups of students and small groups of staff.

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to maintain positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Logistics: Excellent organizational and technical skills, with a “team player” mentality and a problem-solving approach.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the Transition: Join early to play a key role in the transition of our newest cohort, building strong relationships with students and families from day one.

Pastoral Oversight: Place learner welfare at the heart of your practice, ensuring a caring and supportive environment for all young people.

Behavior & Attendance: Monitor and manage the behavior, attendance, and punctuality of the year group in line with academy policies.

Leadership Development: Support the school’s leadership specialism by encouraging students to engage in character-forming and charitable activities.

Liaison: Act as the primary link between the school and parents/carers regarding the holistic development of students within your year group.
