As a heavily over-subscribed and successful Church of England Academy, we are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious educator to take a lead role in our high-performing English Department.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of A-level English across all three specifications and work within a supportive team that balances structural excellence with professional autonomy.

Role Overview

• Position: Lead Teacher of A-level English

• Start Date: September 2026

• Contract: Permanent

• Department Culture: Thriving, supportive, and high-attaining (among the school’s strongest subjects).

• Student Engagement: Record numbers of students currently opting for A-level English.

Key Responsibilities

• Subject Leadership: Lead the teaching and curriculum development for A-level English, covering English Language, English Literature, and the combined Language & Literature course.

• Classroom Excellence: Specifically teach A-level English Language and maintain high standards of delivery in one other Key Stage (KS3 or KS4).

• Strategic Collaboration: Work under the direction of the newly appointed Head of Department to sustain the department’s record of exceptional pupil progress and attainment.

• Student Progression: Foster an environment that encourages academic rigor and a love for linguistics and literature, ensuring students are prepared for higher education.
