Our client, a prestigious and critically acclaimed fine-dining establishment in the heart of **Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK**, is seeking an exceptional Head Chef to lead their culinary team. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with an unwavering passion for food, a deep understanding of modern culinary techniques, and the ability to inspire a high-performing kitchen brigade. You will be responsible for maintaining and elevating the restaurant’s culinary reputation, developing creative menus, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.
Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu development, food preparation, and service delivery. Create and execute innovative, seasonal menus that align with the restaurant’s vision and brand. Manage, mentor, and train the kitchen brigade, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation. Control food costs, manage inventory, and maintain excellent supplier relationships. Implement and enforce strict food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP). Collaborate with the General Manager and front-of-house team to ensure a seamless dining experience. Stay abreast of culinary trends, techniques, and ingredients, and incorporate them creatively into the menu. Manage kitchen staffing, scheduling, and performance reviews. Maintain the operational efficiency and cleanliness of the kitchen.
Qualifications: Significant experience as a Head Chef or Executive Sous Chef in a high-end, fine-dining, or Michelin-starred establishment. Exceptional culinary skills with a creative flair and a passion for gastronomy. Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing and motivating a large kitchen team. In-depth knowledge of international cuisine and modern culinary techniques. Strong understanding of cost control, inventory management, and supplier negotiations. Expertise in food safety regulations and HACCP principles. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. A passion for sourcing high-quality, seasonal ingredients. Relevant culinary qualifications are highly desirable.
