The CFO Data Team has an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, establish relationships, and provide expert advice and assurance on HMRCs data and information management.

The CFO Data Team are a small team whose remit extends across CFO. We engage and collaborate across all CFO Directorates assisting key stakeholders and colleagues in all aspects of data management, data protection and information/records management.
The CFO Data Team are keen to promote and strengthen data and information management capability in HMRC. The team support CFO in its quest to embed key components of the HMRC Data Strategy and promote, support, and enhance compliance with the Data Protection and Public Records Act.

The successful candidate will join a welcoming team and will lead on and make a significant contribution to team priorities, which include:
Key Responsibilities
• Champion best practice in knowledge and information management across CFO Directorates, ensuring accessibility, security, and compliance.
• Provide expert GDPR and Data Protection guidance, assess compliance against ICO frameworks, and coordinate remediation activities.
• Monitor and report on adherence to Data Protection, GDPR, and Information Management principles, delivering targeted assurance exercises.
• Maintain and assure CFO Information Asset Registers, retention schedules, and digital record management.
• Drive data maturity initiatives by improving standards for ownership, reliability, and quality, and by developing team capability through tailored training on SharePoint, Outlook, and OneDrive.
• Lead and facilitate CFO Data Governance Working and Steering Groups to promote collaboration and governance.
• Engage with HMRC stakeholders, including Data Protection Office, Risk Teams, and Corporate Services, to align expectations and embed Information Management practices effectively.

You will manage your own workload, demonstrating leadership to meet multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities. With strong analytical and evaluative skills, you will exercise sound judgment to resolve complex issues, make recommendations and adapt to change, even where no clear precedent exists.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence will enable you to influence and engage across a large, dispersed organisation. You will collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, tailoring communications to diverse audiences and presenting clear, persuasive recommendations.
You will inspire cultural change across CFO and HMRC, promoting safe and effective data and information practices. Committed to continuous improvement, you will seek opportunities to enhance data standards, maturity and records management, driving efficiency and best practice.
Essential Criteria:
We welcome applications from people with:
Proven experience in a Data Protection and/or Information and Records Management role in a large and complex organisation.
Experience of working collaboratively in geographically dispersed teams, across diverse stakeholder groups (different grades and other business areas) and/or building and maintaining networks.
Experience of communicating / presenting technical information to a non-technical audience.
Experience of Data Protection Risk Management and/or Data Protection.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to inspire, motivate and lead others
Ability to communicate how our activities contribute to HMRC strategic goals.

Moves Adjustment Payment will be available for this role, provided the successful applicant is a current HMRC colleague in Bradford and meets the eligibility requirements outlined in the HMRCs Moves Adjustment Payment guidance.
