Medical Receptionist – Old Mill Surgery

Old Mill Surgery is a thriving GP practice dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare to our community of approximately 8,000 patients. Located within the Viewpark Health Centre, we pride ourselves on being a friendly and supportive team, consisting of GP Partners, salaried GPs, nurses, and a wide array of allied health professionals. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our experienced reception staff, where we celebrate a collaborative culture and provide comprehensive training to ensure your success.

About the Role

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the practice. Your responsibilities will include managing a high volume of telephone inquiries, coordinating prescription administration, and processing both digital and paper-based communications. You will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring a balance of efficiency and compassion to support our clinical team and ensure our patients receive the best possible service.

Requirements and Skills

• Communication: Good communication and strong relationship building with patients is of the highest priority; the successful candidate will be confident, compassionate, and efficient.

• Work Style: Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritise workload both independently and with direction.

• Experience (Preferable): Previous General Practice experience is preferable but not essential as training will be given.

• Experience (Advantageous): Previous experience in a call handling/service environment would be advantageous.

• Availability: Ability to work 21 hours over 3 days between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
