Global Commercial Director – Defence

A rapidly scaling European defence start up company is looking for a Commercial Director to lead global market expansion. The organisation specialises in delivering advanced solutions to address evolving security challenges.

This role is designed for someone who combines commercial acumen with a strong grasp of the defence ecosystem. This is an opportunity to take a central role in shaping market

 access and growth for a cutting-edge defence innovator, working at the forefront of technologies that will define future security capabilities.

Responsibilities:
• Define and implement a growth strategy for the Global defence market
• Build, nurture, and expand high-level relationships across government departments, procurement agencies, military stakeholders, and prime contractors.
• Lead negotiations for large-scale defence contracts and framework agreements
• Ensure close coordination with production, R&D, and testing teams to meet customer requirements, including during military trials
• Represent the organisation at defence exhibitions, industry events, and international forums
• Monitor market trends, competitors, and regulatory updates to shape business development strategy

Your Experience:
• Proven experience in defence sales and business development
• Strong understanding of the defence ecosystem and government procurement procedures
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute strategic growth initiatives, fostering long-term business partnerships.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, scaling organisation.
• Willingness to travel
