HC-One is seeking a dedicated and meticulous individual to join our regional Gardening team. Our mission is to become the “First Choice” care provider in every community we serve, and we believe that a beautifully maintained outdoor environment is essential to the wellbeing of our residents. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our grounds are safe, welcoming, and vibrant throughout the changing seasons. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in creating therapeutic spaces for others to enjoy.


Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • General Gardening: Tending to all gardens, including planting seasonal foliage, grass-cutting, pruning shrubs, watering hanging baskets, and weed eradication.

  • Grounds Maintenance: Tidying pathways, walkways, and driveways; painting external fencing and garden furniture; and ensuring the repair of all perimeter fences.

  • Machinery & Safety: Undertaking maintenance of gardening tools and machinery, carrying out required tests/checks, and strictly adhering to Health and Safety and Fire procedures.

  • Seasonal Responsiveness: Working with the estates team to provide salt gritting and snow clearance during winter months.

  • Communication & Engagement: Effectively interacting with residents, Home Managers, colleagues, and visitors with kindness and professionalism.

  • Mobility: This is a full-time position covering multiple care homes; therefore, a valid driving license is essential (a company vehicle is provided).


As an integral part of the HC-One family, you will be empowered through comprehensive training to maintain the highest standards of grounds presentation. You will be a proactive member of the team, adapting your schedule as the needs of the homes evolve and ensuring the safety of our residents through vigilant safeguarding practices. Beyond the horticultural aspect, you will contribute to the overall structural integrity of the outdoor space by managing minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
