Front End Developer – Intellectual Property Office (IPO)

About the Role

In this role, you will be a key member of a multi-disciplinary agile squad, responsible for the end-to-end delivery of enterprise-grade applications. You won’t just be writing code; you will be a multi-skilled contributor involved in UX design, testing, and defining technical strategies. Working primarily in a React and Next.js ecosystem, you will bridge the gap between user needs and technical implementation, building sleek interfaces that interact with complex RESTful APIs. Whether you are investigating system issues or mentoring fellow developers, you will take full accountability for deliverables that ensure the UK’s intellectual property systems remain world-leading.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development: Design, code, test, and document complex, mission-critical applications within an Azure cloud environment.
UI/UX Implementation: Build responsive web interfaces using React and Next.js that interact seamlessly with RESTful APIs.
Agile Collaboration: Work closely with test engineers and Scrum teams to ensure high test coverage and a shared understanding of acceptance criteria.
System Optimization: Assist in implementing toolkits and APIs focused on performance, security, scalability, and integration.
Problem Solving: Proactively investigate system incidents and risks, evaluating findings and communicating recommendations to stakeholders.
Full-Stack Contribution: Utilize and grow your skills in both front-end and back-end technologies, with a high level of input in your own professional development plan.

Requirements & Skills (Essential Criteria)

Essential Technical Experience:

Experience with web technologies and languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Experience of React and experience with Next JS.
Experience of Node JS
Experience working with RESTful web services

Essential General Experience:

Experience in delivering technical solutions
Experience with modern delivery models such as Scrum and Agile
Understanding of DevOps principles
Experience of working with cloud technologies such as Azure
