Food Service Assistant

Job Description

Join Sodexo’s catering team in Liverpool as a Food Service Assistant, helping to deliver fresh, well-presented food and friendly service every weekday lunchtime. You’ll keep the restaurant and vending services running smoothly, ensuring customers enjoy a clean, welcoming and efficient dining experience.

Role Overview

Working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 11:00am to 3:00pm, you’ll support daily service across the main restaurant, hospitality events and vending areas. You’ll assist with food preparation, serve customers, operate tills and maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety throughout the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of food to Sodexo and client standards
• Serve meals and beverages promptly and courteously
• Operate tills accurately, handling cash and card payments with care
• Keep counters, kitchen, storage and service areas clean, tidy and compliant with hygiene rules
• Operate dishwashers and help maintain an efficient kitchen workflow
• Refill vending machines and keep them clean, stocked and in good working order
• Record food temperatures, wastage and other required checks
• Follow food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH procedures at all times
• Work flexibly across duties to support a strong “One Team” culture

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in busy catering, hospitality or food service environments
• Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional manner
• Confident using a till and handling payments accurately
• Good awareness of cleanliness, food hygiene and health and safety standards
• Team player who can also work independently when required
• Flexible, willing to learn new tasks and adapt to changing service needs

Hours and Pay

• 20 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, 11:00am–3:00pm
