Job Overview
As a Fish and Chip Shop Assistant, you will support the kitchen and counter, preparing orders, frying and plating, handling cash and chatting with customers. You will work part time, in person, across busy peak periods, gaining hands-on experience in a classic British takeaway while learning efficient, safe food preparation from experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook fish, chips and other menu items to shop standards
• Serve customers at the counter with a friendly, helpful attitude
• Handle cash and card payments accurately using basic maths
• Portion food correctly to maintain consistency and minimise waste
• Keep frying, prep and service areas clean and tidy throughout shifts
• Follow food hygiene and safety procedures at all times
• Assist with restocking, basic cleaning and end-of-shift close-down tasks

Requirements
• Basic maths skills for cash handling and portion control
• Excellent time management to cope with busy rush periods
• Friendly, polite manner with customers and colleagues
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, punctual and happy to work part-time shifts
• Right to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work on your feet and perform light lifting and bending

Qualifications
• Around one year food preparation experience preferred
• Around one year customer service experience preferred
• Confident verbal communication skills in English
• Previous takeaway or hospitality experience is an advantage but not essential
