Requirements and Skills

• Technical Foundation: A relevant university degree or equivalent qualification in Fire Safety Engineering or a related engineering field.

• Regulatory Expertise: A solid, working knowledge of UK fire safety regulations (such as BS 9999, BS 9991, and Approved Document B) and the ability to apply these to complex designs.

• Experience: Proven track record in fire safety engineering, specifically within a consultancy or design environment.

• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, taking ownership from initial concept through to successful completion.

• Technical Deliverables: Proficiency in preparing engineering reports, complex calculations, and detailed fire safety drawings.

Role Overview

As a Fire Safety Engineer, you will be the technical lead on a diverse range of projects. You will not be working in a silo; this role requires high-level collaboration with Directors, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams (architects, MEP engineers, etc.). You will translate architectural visions into safe, compliant realities by applying advanced fire engineering principles. Key Responsibilities

• Consultancy & Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, client-focused fire safety solutions.

• Regulatory Compliance: Apply core fire safety principles to ensure all designs meet the codes of governing bodies.

• Documentation: Create and manage engineering reports, detailed calculations, and fire safety drawings.

• Project Lifecycle: Manage the end-to-end delivery of fire safety strategies for varied sectors (commercial, residential, industrial).

• Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments and design appropriate fire protection and suppression measures.
