Position: Fiscal Threat & Regulation Oversight Principal — Actuarial (Permanent)
Location: Edinburgh / London / Birmingham (Hybrid)
Phoenix Group is seeking a Fiscal Threat & Regulation Oversight Principal to join our Line 1 Finance Risk & Governance unit. This embedded role provides risk-centric supervision of actuarial workflows. You will be instrumental in refining and reinforcing the protective framework supporting vital actuarial operations. Your scope includes mission-critical sectors such as capital steering, liquidity, assumption frameworks, Solvency II, and internal modeling governance that impact balance sheet stability.
The Role:

Provide comprehensive Line 1 supervision of financial and non-financial threats across designated workflows.

Function as an independent reviewer for threat identification, evaluation, and regulation.

Partner with Departmental Heads and senior leaders to offer constructive critiques and independent perspectives.

Guarantee that regulations are balanced, high-performing, and synchronized with risk tolerance.

Bridge the gap between intricate technical actuarial data and high-level strategic supervision.

Requirements:

Accredited (or nearly accredited) Actuary with a robust technical base in actuarial workflows.

Background in threat management, quality assurance, auditing, or regulation supervision within a fiscal or actuarial department.

Comprehensive grasp of financial and functional threats, including model integrity, capital sufficiency, and liquidity.

Capacity to operate independently and strategically to evaluate regulation performance and suggest realistic enhancements.
