Job Overview
Working 20–24 hours per week, you will sit at the heart of a modern finance function, handling purchase and sales ledgers, reconciliations and month-end support. This hybrid role combines hands-on processing with daily contact with suppliers, clients and colleagues, giving you responsibility, variety and visible impact without needing full-time hours. Ideal for AAT trainees seeking progression in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage supplier and client accounts within the accounting system
• Process purchase and sales invoices accurately, including correct VAT treatment
• Reconcile supplier statements, bank accounts and key balance sheet items
• Handle finance-related queries by phone and email
• Support credit control and client communications when needed
• Process company card transactions and employee expenses
• Assist with month-end and year-end activities and reports
• Help maintain shared inboxes and administrative finance processes
• Contribute to process improvements across day-to-day operations
Requirements
• Experience in a similar finance or accounts support role
• Confident using Excel and accounting software; cloud-based systems a plus
• Strong attention to detail and pride in getting things right first time
• Able to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively
• Comfortable communicating with suppliers, clients and colleagues at all levels
• Enjoys being busy, organised and helpful within a collaborative team
Qualifications
• AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT
• Good general numeracy and literacy skills
• No formal degree required; practical finance experience is most important
