Junior Installation Engineer (Full Training) – Logistics & Automation

Are you a hands-on individual with experience in assembly, maintenance, or installation? This is a career-defining opportunity to join a global leader in the Logistics and Automation sector. With over 450 years of heritage and a workforce of 2,500 globally, this company is renowned for promoting from within—many of their current Directors started as trainees just like you.

If you are looking for a role that offers a rigorous two-year mentorship programme, significant earning potential through overtime, and a path to becoming a product expert, this is the perfect field-based position for you.

About the Role

As a Junior Installation Engineer, you will be the face of the manufacturer on-site. You will transition from a trainee to a specialist in bespoke automated machinery. This is a highly mobile role, home-based but requiring regular travel (70% away from home). You will be part of a team responsible for the physical assembly and technical commissioning of complex logistics systems. Because these systems are often large-scale, you must be comfortable working at heights to complete installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Assembly: Hands-on building of bespoke machinery from the ground up at customer sites.

  • Commissioning: Assisting in the initial start-up and testing of systems to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications.

  • Field Travel: Traveling across the UK with regular stays away (typically 2–3 nights per week).

  • Continuous Learning: Actively participating in a structured two-year training and mentorship programme.

  • Safety: Adhering to strict safety protocols, especially when working at heights or with electrical/mechanical components.

Requirements

  • Background: Any hands-on experience in Installation, Service, Maintenance, or Assembly (Mechanical or Electrical).

  • Mindset: Eager to be invested in and dedicated to long-term technical training.

  • Mobility: A full UK driver’s license and a willingness to stay away from home regularly.

  • Physicality: Comfortable working at heights and in active industrial environments.

  • Location: Commutable from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Livingston, or Falkirk.

Benefits & Remuneration

This role offers one of the most comprehensive benefit packages in the sector:

  • Earnings: £30,000 basic salary with high OTE through regular overtime.

  • Travel Perks: Company car (available for personal use) plus all meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) paid for while away.

  • Health & Wellbeing: Private Medical insurance and 24/7 GP access.

  • Time Off: 33 days holiday.

  • Future-Proofing: Full machinery training and a clear progression path to “Expert Engineer” status.
