Fabricator / Plater

Job Description

Join a high-spec fabrication team in Liverpool as a Fabricator / Plater, working on heavy steel components and support brackets to tight tolerances. You’ll turn detailed drawings into accurate fabrications, using your trade skills to deliver clean, structurally sound work every time.

Role Overview

This contractor role suits an experienced Fabricator / Plater confident working from engineering drawings on complex plate and structural work. You’ll fabricate and fit support brackets and other assemblies, maintaining high standards of accuracy, finish and safety while working both independently and alongside a wider workshop or site team.

Key Responsibilities

• Read, interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings and isometrics
• Mark out, cut, form and assemble plate and structural components
• Fabricate and fit support brackets and associated steelwork to specification
• Check dimensions, alignment and tolerances throughout fabrication
• Work safely with fabrication tools, equipment and lifting gear
• Maintain a clean, organised work area and contribute to a safe working environment
• Collaborate with welders, fitters and supervisors to meet production and quality targets

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Fabricator / Plater in heavy or structural steel environments
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings without supervision
• Demonstrable competence fabricating support brackets and plate fabrications to a high standard
• Excellent attention to detail, with a clear commitment to quality and right‑first‑time work
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team, following instructions and hit deadlines
• Local to the Liverpool area and able to travel daily (no digs provided)

Pay and Engagement

• Engagement type: CIS or Umbrella contractors only
• Basic rate: £26.25 per hour
• Overtime 1: £36.75 per hour
• Overtime 2: £47.25 per hour
• Immediate starts available for successful candidates after passing a trade test

Trade Test

All applicants must be able to complete and pass a relevant fabrication / plating trade test to demonstrate drawing interpretation, marking out and fabrication skills before starting on site.
