Key Responsibilities

Cycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end examinations process, from initial student entries and complex timetabling to invigilation and the secure release of results.

Regulatory Compliance: Act as the school’s expert on JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) regulations, ensuring all awarding body requirements are met without exception.

Team Leadership: Line manage, recruit, and train a team of examination staff and external invigilators to maintain high standards of conduct.

Inclusion & Access: Oversee the administration of Access Arrangements and special considerations, ensuring students with specific needs receive their entitled concessions.

Logistics & Problem Solving: Manage the physical setup of exam halls and resolve any technical or behavioral issues on exam days promptly and professionally.

Reporting & Analysis: Support senior leadership teams with post-exam data analysis and provide insights for continuous improvement.
Requirements and Skills

Education Experience: Proven experience managing examinations within a UK school or college setting is essential.

Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of JCQ regulations and awarding body procedures.

Leadership: Ability to lead a large team of invigilators and communicate effectively with awarding bodies.

Organization: Exceptional project management skills with the ability to handle strict, non-negotiable deadlines.

Data Literacy: Proficiency in management information systems (MIS) and data reporting.
About the Role
As the Examinations Manager, you are the guardian of academic integrity within the institution. Your year is defined by the rigorous peaks of the exam season, where your ability to remain calm under pressure is vital.
Beyond the logistics of paper distribution and seating plans, you will be responsible for the sensitive handling of Special Considerations and Exam Access Arrangements (EAA), ensuring the school remains inclusive and compliant with the Equality Act. You will act as the primary liaison between the school and national awarding bodies, ensuring that all data transfers are secure and accurate. This role provides a salary of £32,000–£40,000 and offers the chance to work in a diverse and inclusive environment where your contribution directly impacts student success.
