Targeted Provision
job description
Targeted Provision is a child-centered, impact-driven community dedicated to transforming the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable learners. We are currently recruiting SEND Tutors and Teachers in your area to provide specialized, trauma-informed education to young people with complex needs. Whether working in person, via a hybrid model, or remotely, you will act as both a teacher and a mentor, helping disengaged or at-risk students re-engage with learning and reach their full potential.
SEND Tutor and Teacher Requirements
-
Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of teaching experience. Experience with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or PMLD is essential.
-
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) is required.
-
Subject Expertise: Strong familiarity with core subjects: English, Maths, and/or Science.
-
Compliance: An Enhanced DBS check (which we can facilitate) and two professional references.
-
Location: Must be based in the UK with the Right to Work.
-
Approach: A deep understanding of trauma-informed pedagogy and safeguarding practices.
In this role, you will provide bespoke tuition to children and young people (KS1 through KS5) who have been referred by Schools and Local Authorities. Your daily responsibilities extend beyond standard curriculum delivery; you will plan and deliver flexible, holistic lessons tailored to the specific social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs of your students. You will be responsible for reporting on lesson outcomes, tracking progress, and collaborating with a “team around the child” to ensure a consistent support network. This is a self-employed position that offers the creative freedom to teach outside the constraints of a traditional classroom, focusing entirely on the individual needs of the learner.
Understanding the Learner Profile
You will be supporting a diverse group of learners with varying levels of need:
-
SEMH: Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, often resulting from previous trauma or exclusion.
-
MLD/SLD: Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties requiring significant curriculum adaptation.
-
PMLD: Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties involving complex physical and sensory needs alongside learning disabilities.
Benefits and Rewards
Targeted Provision offers a supportive environment designed to help you excel in your mission:
-
Competitive Pay: £28 – £35 per hour.
-
Total Flexibility: Choose between in-person, hybrid, or work-from-home opportunities with part-time or full-time hours.
-
Professional Development: Access to the TES CPD suite and a professional mentor.
-
Specialist Support: A dedicated SEND Support Team to assist with complex cases.
-
Referral Scheme: Rewards for successfully referring other high-quality tutors.
Diversity and Safeguarding
We believe our organization must reflect the diverse communities our learners come from. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Please note that Targeted Provision takes Safer Recruitment seriously; all candidates must undergo rigorous screening to ensure the safety and suitability of those working with young people.
