Entry-Level Software Engineer

UnlikelyAI

Job Summary: Entry-Level Software Engineer

Unlikely AI is on a mission to solve the “black box” problem of modern artificial intelligence. By combining Large Language Models with proprietary symbolic reasoning—a field known as neurosymbolic AI—we are creating systems for major institutions like Lloyd’s Bank that are accurate, explainable, and reliable. As an entry-level engineer, you won’t be working on minor features; you will be at the frontier of research, contributing to production systems that solve critical financial and regulatory challenges. This role is designed for high-potential individuals who want to bypass the typical corporate “incremental” work and dive straight into inventing the future of trustworthy AI.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrable capability at programming with Python.

  • A relevant degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering (other STEM degrees considered on a case-by-case basis).

  • Bias for action — a natural tendency to take initiative and make decisions.

  • Energy for difficult problems and a desire to work in a fast-paced, research-heavy environment.

Role Overview

You will work at the intersection of traditional software engineering and cutting-edge machine learning. Alongside research engineers and scientists, you will develop novel neurosymbolic solutions while gaining full-stack exposure to Backend, Frontend, and DevOps. The role emphasizes hands-on mentorship from senior leaders, aimed at accelerating your transition from an early-career engineer to a highly skilled senior professional. You will be responsible for building the foundational layers of AI that can explain its own reasoning, ensuring that critical institutional decisions are backed by transparent technology.

Why Unlikely AI?

  • Elite Mentorship: A proven track record of developing junior talent into senior leaders.

  • Frontier Tech: The rare chance to work on technology that has literally never existed before.

  • Prime Location: A hybrid role based in a central Bloomsbury office (3 days per week).

  • Impact: Your work directly helps major global firms solve problems that current LLMs simply cannot handle.
