Teamforce Labour is seeking a high-caliber Engineering Supervisor (ES) to oversee critical rail infrastructure projects across Kent and the South East. In the rail industry, safety is the ultimate priority, and as an ES, you will be the primary guardian of site safety and operational compliance. This is a safety-critical role for a leader who excels in high-pressure environments, ensuring that every engineering task is delivered to rigorous Network Rail standards within complex possession arrangements.
Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision: Act as the designated Engineering Supervisor (ES) in strict accordance with Network Rail standards.

Possession Management: Supervise and control engineering works within work sites, managing the interface between site activities and the wider rail infrastructure.

Safety Coordination: Liaise directly with the PICOP (Person in Charge of Possession) and COSS (Controller of Site Safety) to maintain a seamless safe system of work.

Safety Briefings: Conduct essential site-specific safety briefings for all staff, contractors, and visitors before works commence.

Compliance & Oversight: Monitor site conditions continuously, exercising the authority to stop work immediately if unsafe conditions arise.

Documentation: Ensure all permits, site documentation, and safety reports are accurately completed and filed.
Requirements

Essential Competencies: Current and valid Engineering Supervisor (ES) competency and a valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) card.

Industry Experience: Proven track record working as an ES within the UK rail industry.

Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Network Rail standards, Rule Books, and safe systems of work.

Flexibility: Must be able to work a rail-standard schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and designated bank holiday possessions.

Leadership: Strong communication skills and the ability to lead diverse teams under strict time constraints.
About the Role
As an Engineering Supervisor, you are the technical and safety lead for a specific work site within a larger possession. Your primary focus is the safe movement of engineering trains and on-track plant, as well as the protection of personnel working within your limits.
You will be responsible for the “Work Site” from the moment the PICOP grants you authority until the site is handed back clear and safe for traffic. This role requires a disciplined professional who can balance the need for engineering efficiency with an uncompromising “Safety First” mindset.
