Role Overview

Drax is seeking a skilled EC&I (Electrical, Control & Instrumentation) Technician to join their team at Daldowie, near Glasgow. This full-time, permanent role focuses on supporting both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, as well as assisting with modification and replacement projects. The role is ideal for technicians with practical plant experience and a passion for safe, efficient, and sustainable energy operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical maintenance, repair, and installation on plant equipment, including 3-phase motors, switchgear, variable speed drives, soft starts, circuit breakers, and motor control centers.

• Maintain and calibrate instrumentation systems for temperature, pressure, level, flow, oxygen, and pH.

• Interpret schematic drawings, single-line diagrams, and PLC ladder logic.

• Support modification and replacement projects, ensuring high-quality, compliant work.

• Record maintenance and repair activities accurately to meet regulatory and internal compliance standards.

• Promote safe working practices and support colleagues in developing EC&I skills and understanding.

• Contribute to the rollout of new processes, systems, and ways of working on-site.

Skills and Experience Required

• ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering; recognized Apprenticeship completed.

• Strong plant experience in EC&I maintenance and repair.

• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and PLC logic.

• Experience with process plant instrumentation and control systems.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
