Digital Transformation Manager

Veolia

Job Summary: Digital Transformation Manager

Veolia, a global leader in environmental solutions, is seeking a Digital Transformation Manager to join their South Bucks team. This role is at the heart of Veolia’s “Ecological Transformation” mission, focusing on modernising waste and resource management services. You will be responsible for digitising traditionally paper-heavy operational processes, using data and GIS technology to improve routing, and training end-users on new systems. If you are an analytical problem-solver who can “make the complex simple” for operational teams, this role offers a direct opportunity to drive environmental efficiency through technology.

Requirements and Skills

  • Analytical Management: Proven experience in operational or analytical roles, specifically supporting business change or process improvement.

  • Data Mastery: Strong skills in manipulating large datasets using Excel or Google Sheets to perform service analysis.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: A high problem-solving ability with a knack for identifying “paper-based” bottlenecks and automating them.

  • Communication: Excellent relationship management skills; able to translate technical data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical frontline staff.

  • Spatial Literacy: Familiarity with or an ability to learn GIS (Spatial) technology for routing and service optimisation.

  • Independence: Highly self-motivated and able to manage projects across multiple sites (Amersham, High Wycombe, and Camden).

Role Overview

You will act as the bridge between Veolia’s central systems team and the local operational staff. Your primary objective is to remove the administrative burden on frontline teams by automating back-office systems and eliminating paper trails. You won’t just be implementing technology; you will be rethinking how processes work from the ground up. Whether it’s rolling out a national digital product or using GIS to refine a truck’s bin-collection route, your work ensures that data is used to make the service faster, cleaner, and more efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Re-engineering: Audit and rethink back-office workflows to replace manual paper processes with digital automation.

  • System Optimization: Work with the central systems team to deliver product roadmaps and drive the “digitisation” of services.

  • Operational Training: Support the digital training strategy by delivering hands-on training to operational end-users (drivers, loaders, and depot staff).

  • Data Analysis: Manipulate large datasets to perform service analysis and improve overall contract performance.

  • Route Optimization: Use spatial (GIS) technology to assist with service changes and improve collection routing efficiency.

  • Relationship Management: Act as the key point of contact for onsite management, providing confident data reporting and performance insights.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: £35,000 per annum + 17.5% bonus.

  • Vehicle: Company car or car allowance provided.

  • Location: Hybrid working (South Bucks sites + 3 days at the Camden Depot).

  • Health: 24-hour virtual GP for you and your household.

  • Wellbeing: Access to mental and financial health resources + one paid volunteering day per year.

  • Recognition: Veolia has been a “Sunday Times Best Place to Work” for three consecutive years (2023–2025).

Application Tip: “Making the Complex Simple”

Peer Note: Veolia operates in a high-pressure, physical environment. In your application, focus on how you have previously helped non-technical teams (like drivers or warehouse staff) adopt new technology. Being able to show you can empathize with their workflow while improving it is the “secret sauce” for this role.
