Job Description

Purely Recruitment Solutions is recruiting a Despatch / Lab Assistant for a client in Swindon. This is a temporary-to-permanent role offering approximately 40 hours per week on 10-hour days (8:00 am – 7:30 pm) with regular weekend work, including one full weekend off per month. The hourly rate is £12.21.

The role focuses on supporting lab operations, managing orders, and maintaining high product quality, while contributing to cost management, sustainability, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

• Minimise lab costs by reducing wastage and ordering from approved suppliers.

• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety procedures.

• Support the store culture and team goals, contributing to a “Customer First” ethos.

• Maintain professional and clean laboratory conditions.

• Track and sign-off completed orders and monitor progress.

Level 1 Responsibilities (Laboratory Technician Induction):

• Accurately understand and analyse prescriptions.

• Communicate effectively with front-of-store staff regarding order progress.

• Demonstrate technical competency and embrace continuous learning.

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safe lab practices.

Level 2 Responsibilities (Laboratory Technician Full Accreditation):

• Manage customers with complex needs.

• Order and monitor products from core suppliers.

• Conduct regular quality audits.

• Support apprentices with their learning.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrates professionalism, organisation, and attention to detail.

• Customer-focused with strong communication skills.

• Flexible and willing to work weekends and extended shifts.

• Motivated to complete training and achieve accreditation (Level 1 & 2).

• Able to comply with health, safety, and laboratory procedures.
