Bury Church Of England High School
job description
Bury CE High School is at a defining moment in its history, and we are looking for a visionary Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral Care) to join our Senior Leadership Team. This permanent, full-time role is ideal for a seasoned leader—perhaps a current Deputy seeking a fresh challenge or an experienced Headteacher looking to pivot—who is eager to make a long-term commitment to our local community. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our school’s culture and ensuring our pupils leave with both exceptional qualifications and the character to succeed as young adults.
Requirements, Qualifications and Skills
WE ARE SEEKING A PASSIONATE CANDIDATE WHO:
-
Is an enthusiastic and innovative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving high standards.
-
Quickly builds rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues.
-
Has a genuine passion for quality learning, pastoral care and excellence and ensures that students are at the centre of every decision.
-
Demonstrates personal resilience and role models those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people.
-
Is prepared to share good practice and actively seek to continue to explore ways to improve their own and others’ teaching and pastoral care.
YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:
-
To provide strategic leadership for behaviour and attendance, safeguarding and personal development, and to act as Deputy to the Headteacher, assuming leadership responsibility for the school when required.
About the Role
As the strategic lead for Pastoral Care, you will oversee the critical pillars of behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, and inclusion. This is not just a stepping stone; it is an opportunity to lead senior staff and drive whole-school priorities that directly impact the lives of our families. In return for your expertise and “uncompromising ambition,” we offer a robust support package, including automatic pay progression, comprehensive healthcare cash plans, and a culture that prioritizes staff wellbeing over performance-related appraisals. If you are a resilient leader who values deep professional relationships and excellence in pastoral support, we invite you to help lead our school toward its next chapter.
