Cyber Security Associate Director

RSM UK

Job Summary: Cyber Security Associate Director

RSM UK, a global leader in audit, tax, and consulting, is seeking an Associate Director to join their Technology and Cyber Risk Assurance (TRA) team in London. This is a high-level strategic and commercial role focused on the “middle market.” You will be responsible for advising clients on cyber strategy, resilience, and the risks associated with emerging technologies like AI and Blockchain. This role is a blend of elite technical advisory, team leadership, and business development, offering a clear pathway to Partnership within a firm currently undergoing ambitious digital-first growth.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven Expertise: Significant experience delivering cyber security assurance and advisory services, including “security leadership” roles such as vCISO (Virtual CISO).

  • Commercial Drive: A proven track record of winning new business, responding to RFPs, and expanding revenue within existing client accounts.

  • Network: A strong external profile with an extensive network of contacts across the cyber and technology industry.

  • Technical Breadth: Passion for both defensive and offensive cyber services, with an interest in emerging tech risk (AI, Blockchain, etc.).

  • Leadership: Experience managing high-performing teams, including recruitment, resource management, and long-term career coaching.

  • Operational Excellence: Experience managing complex engagements end-to-end within a professional services or “Big 4” style environment.

Role Overview

As an Associate Director, you are a “catalyst for growth.” You will work directly with Partners to manage the firm’s cyber portfolio, ensuring that work is profitable, timely, and high-quality. You will spend a significant portion of your time in the market, identifying inefficiencies in client environments and proposing data-driven cyber solutions. Internally, you act as a mentor, utilizing RSM’s TRA career pathway to develop the next generation of consultants while ensuring the firm’s own cyber capabilities remain market-leading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advisory: Lead teams providing specialist advice on cyber strategy, controls, and compliance.

  • Business Development: Drive market activity, create compelling proposals, and identify new revenue streams.

  • Team Leadership: Coach and develop team members, taking a genuine interest in their professional growth and recruitment.

  • Engagement Management: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of cyber projects, ensuring quality assurance and value-added reporting.

  • Innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging technology risks to provide proactive advice on AI and decentralized technologies.

What RSM Offers

  • Career Growth: Access to a dedicated TRA career pathway and an in-house Talent Development team with 300+ courses.

  • Flexible Rewards: A hybrid working model and a flexible benefits package.

  • Holiday: 27 days annual leave.

  • Wellbeing: Access to a virtual GP, financial wellbeing tools, and an electric car scheme.

  • Culture: A diverse and inclusive environment where “bringing your true self to work” is actively encouraged.

Application Tip: The “Middle Market” Focus

Peer Note: RSM specifically targets the middle market (mid-sized businesses). These clients often have complex global footprints but lack the massive internal security budgets of the FTSE 100. In your application, emphasize how you provide scalable, “future-fit” solutions that offer high value without the “over-engineering” sometimes found in larger enterprise consulting.
