Job Description

Co-op Academy Belle Vue is seeking an exceptional and visionary Curriculum Leader for Religious Studies (RS) and Citizenship. Following our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ judgment in March 2024, we are looking for a passionate leader to join our Middle Leadership Team.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) heart of a rapidly growing academy. Currently home to 720 students, we are an oversubscribed school on a trajectory to 1,200 pupils. The Role

As Curriculum Leader, you will work in close partnership with the Principal and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that RS and Citizenship education remains a cornerstone of our outstanding curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subject Leadership: Provide strategic vision and management for RS and Citizenship, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the department.

  • Curriculum Innovation: Design and implement a dynamic curriculum that reflects our multicultural community and prepares students for life in modern Britain.

  • Middle Leadership: Contribute to the wider academy’s strategic plan, acting as a pivotal link between the classroom and Senior Leadership.

  • Student Progress: Monitor and track the achievement of all pupils, including those with SEND, ensuring every student has an equal chance to succeed.

  • Citizenship & Values: Champion the Co-op values of democracy and solidarity, fostering mature and admirable attitudes to learning.

Leading RS and Citizenship in this region requires an understanding of the diverse landscape our students inhabit. According to the 2021 Census data for the Manchester area:
