Are you a meticulous professional with a passion for integrity and the technical “mechanics” of risk management? Barclays is seeking a disciplined Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Compliance Assurance to join our dedicated Financial Crime team. Based at our world-class hub in Glasgow, this is a hands-on delivery role focused on the technical execution of our robust testing plan.

In this role, you will be a vital line of defense, moving beyond high-level strategy to perform the deep-dive testing that keeps the bank secure. You will verify that our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) controls are not just designed well, but operating effectively in the real world. This is a collaborative environment where you will sharpen your testing methodology while gaining broad exposure to Sanctions and Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) frameworks.

Your Key Responsibilities

• AML Assurance: Take ownership of the technical execution of AML control testing to ensure the bank remains compliant and secure.

• Technical Execution: Perform rigorous Control Testing (evaluating design and operation) and Outcome Testing (verifying regulatory end-results).

• Thematic Reviews: Support specialized testing modules across the Financial Crime spectrum, including Sanctions and ABC.

• Documentation: Produce high-quality work papers and document test results to an “audit-ready” standard.

• Evidence Gathering: Conduct sample testing and identify even subtle deviations from established bank policies.

• Reporting: Draft clear, evidence-based findings to be communicated to senior management and review teams.

Your Background & Experience

• Professional Foundation: A solid background in Internal/External Audit or Compliance Assurance specifically within a Bank or Financial Services firm.

• Risk Literacy: A strong fundamental understanding of how Financial Crime risks manifest in a regulated environment.

• Detail Oriented: A proven track record of meticulous evidence gathering and clear, concise technical writing.

• Collaborative: The ability to work as a key contributor within a review team while managing individual workstreams independently.
