Community Payback Supervisor – The Probation Service

About the Role
This is an active, operational role where you will directly lead and supervise groups of people on probation as they complete their unpaid work hours. Your primary goal is to motivate your team to complete manual tasks—such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities, or tree planting—to a high standard. You will act as a role model, demonstrating good practice and ensuring that work is carried out safely and effectively. This specific vacancy is for a Part-Time position (14.8 hours per week), primarily working Fridays and Saturdays, making it ideal for those seeking a weekend-focused schedule with enhanced pay.
Key Responsibilities

Direct Supervision: Leading small groups of people on probation for up to 7 hours a day at various community project sites.

Manual Task Leadership: Overseeing and participating in tasks like graffiti removal, litter picking, building benches, and landscape restoration.

Logistics & Safety: Driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment to work sites and ensuring all safety protocols are met.

Mentorship: Working alongside service users to demonstrate quality workmanship and helping them develop a positive work ethic.

Operational Reporting: Completing all necessary work site supervision tasks and ensuring attendance and performance are accurately recorded.
Requirements & Skills

Mandatory: Must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence at the time of application (Automatic-only licenses cannot be accepted).

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, influence, and motivate a diverse mix of individuals.

Personal Qualities: Empathetic and patient, with a genuine desire to help people turn their lives around.

Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends as part of a normal working pattern (Friday and Saturday).

Physical Stamina: Ability to undertake manual tasks and work outdoors in various settings.

Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK. Note: This role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas (effective July 22, 2025).
