About the Role
As a Community Payback Supervisor, you are at the heart of restorative justice. You will lead small groups of offenders on varied projects—from cleaning streets to building community facilities—ensuring that their work is seen as a credible punishment and a positive contribution to the public. You aren’t just a supervisor; you are a mentor and a role model. You will demonstrate good practice, teach vocational skills, and use pro-social modeling to help individuals gain the work experience they need to turn their lives around. This is a flexible, field-based role that requires early starts (7:00 AM) and mandatory weekend work (at least one weekend day per week).
Key Responsibilities

Direct Supervision: Leading work groups of offenders at various sites, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard and discipline is maintained.

Health & Safety Leadership: Conducting “tool box” talks, performing dynamic risk assessments on-site, and ensuring all tools and equipment are used safely.

Motivational Mentoring: Using pro-social techniques to encourage People on Probation to complete their orders and develop a positive work ethic.

Logistics & Records: Driving service vehicles to transport teams and equipment, and maintaining accurate digital records on the case management system.

Skills Assessment: Working toward accreditation as a workplace assessor to provide vocational training opportunities for service users.

Community Advocacy: Promoting the value of Community Payback to the public, external agencies, and the wider justice system.
Requirements & Skills (Success Profiles)
Mandatory Technical Requirement:

Full UK Manual Driving Licence: You must hold a manual licence to apply. Candidates with automatic-only licences cannot be considered for this operational role.
