Commercial Print Sales Advisor

DevFinders

General Information

  • Organisation: Commercial Print Provider (Independent/Broker model)

  • Role: Commercial Print Sales Advisor

  • Location: Fully Remote (UK-wide)

  • Contract Type: Self-employed

  • Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time (Complete flexibility)

The Commission Structure

This role operates on a high-reward, profit-sharing model rather than a traditional base salary. It is designed for those who want to build a “book of business” that pays out over time.

  • Upfront Profit: You keep 75% of the profit on the initial sale of printers, photocopiers, and hardware.

  • Residual Income: You receive 50% of the profit from service contracts (toner, maintenance, “cost-per-page” agreements) for the life of the contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation: Identifying and cold-calling or emailing B2B prospects (offices, schools, legal firms) that require high-volume printing solutions.

  • Solution Selling: Moving beyond “selling a box” to selling Managed Print Services (MPS)—a system that automates toner replacement and repairs.

  • Account Management: Maintaining the relationship to ensure the “lifetime” residual income remains secure through contract renewals.

  • Market Analysis: Understanding the difference between Inkjet, Laser, and Wide Format technologies to advise clients on cost-saving measures.

Candidate Requirements

  • Mindset: You must be a “Hunter” personality. Since there is no base salary, you need the discipline to manage your own pipeline without a manager looking over your shoulder.

  • B2B Experience: Comfort speaking with business owners, IT managers, and procurement officers.

  • Tech Literacy: Ability to learn the specifications of modern office hardware and the software that integrates with it (e.g., cloud printing, secure document scanning).

Why Consider a Self-Employed Sales Role?

Unlike a “salaried plus 5% commission” job, this role allows you to build compounding income. Every service contract you sign adds to a monthly “floor” of earnings that stays with you for years.

Summary of the Role

This is essentially a “Business in a Box.” It is perfect for an experienced sales professional who is tired of making large profits for a corporation while only seeing a small percentage in their commission check. However, because it is self-employed, you will be responsible for your own tax/NI and have no guaranteed income during the initial “ramp-up” period.

Quick Tip: If you apply, ask about the “Average Transaction Value” (ATV) and the “Average Life of a Service Contract.” Knowing these two numbers will help you calculate exactly how many sales you need to make to reach your desired monthly income.
