Clinical Tutor – Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
NHS Education for Scotland (NES), in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, is seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join the Clinical Practice Team. This permanent, part-time role is central to the delivery and quality assurance of the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych). You will act as a bridge between academic training and clinical practice, ensuring that trainees receive high-quality supervision and that the program continues to meet the evolving needs of NHS Scotland’s psychological services.
Core Requirements and Skills

Professional Registration: Must be an experienced Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC.

Affiliation: Eligible for chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Supervisory Experience: Proven track record of supervising Clinical Psychology trainees within a clinical setting.

Education Interest: A deep-seated interest in clinical practice education and the development of future practitioners.

Communication: Highly effective at simplifying complex psychological or educational language for diverse stakeholders.

Clinical Practice: The applicant is expected to maintain a separate clinical role alongside this tutorship.
Key Responsibilities

Trainee Support: Provide oversight and support to trainees throughout their three-year Doctorate journey.

Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality initiatives to ensure clinical placements meet national training standards.

Partnership Working: Facilitate alliances between the University of Edinburgh, NHS Health Boards, and other key stakeholders.

Project Leadership: Take a lead role in specific initiatives aimed at expanding workforce capacity for evidence-based psychological interventions.

Administrative Duties: Organize and prioritize workloads to meet strict academic and clinical deadlines, including taking part in trainee selection and assessment.
