Bank of America
Job Description
As a Client Outreach Onboarding Specialist at Bank of America, you will act as a primary front-line representative, engaging directly with clients to fulfill Know Your Client (KYC) remediation and periodic refresh mandates. Operating from our new Belfast hub, you will collaborate extensively with Global Markets Sales and Investment Bankers to ensure the bank meets international policy and regulatory standards regarding Client Due Diligence (CDD). You will be responsible for identifying client links, securing necessary documentation, and serving as a central point for resolving jurisdictional or client-specific challenges promptly.
Beyond routine documentation tasks, team members stay informed on global regulatory shifts that impact operations and actively seek ways to improve the client journey. The Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) Onboarding teams function as the Front-Line Unit (FLU), working across various sectors and geographies to execute KYC requirements efficiently and meet critical new business timelines.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Bankers and Operations to define the specific onboarding needs for individual clients.
• Designate Outreach contacts and act as the primary liaison for clients, Bankers, Risk, and internal support teams.
• Expedite high-priority onboards by removing hurdles to ensure signing deadlines are achieved.
• Champion and implement practical, effective strategies for meeting KYC Onboarding standards.
• Take charge of client engagement and address any coverage gaps across different business lines.
• Lead the systematic organization and logging of client interactions within official record-keeping systems.
• Manage client-related discussions within internal Front-Line Unit governance and partner-led routines.
• Identify and mitigate risks stemming from KYC non-compliance, including account restrictions or closures.
• Compile client insights on jurisdictional nuances and policy to refine bank-wide processes globally.
• Propose and implement workflow enhancements that benefit the broader client base.
• Coordinate with colleagues in Sales, Banking, Business Controls, and Change management groups.
• Perform client activity reviews and advise Bankers on the continuity of specific entity relationships.
• Direct the KYC Onboarding outreach process and evaluate the necessity of re-onboarding when required.
• Ensure the punctual collection of mandated documents, including rigorous follow-up procedures.
• Represent the “voice of the client” while maintaining strict adherence to laws, rules, and internal policies.
• Evaluate and suggest improved interaction platforms, such as client portals.
• Monitor performance metrics and ensure any process exceptions are addressed within set windows.
• Gain expertise in Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) to guide clients through compliance.
• Act as the Outreach representative for audits, exams, and regulatory management from a front-line perspective.
• Maintain strict data privacy in accordance with bank policies for all non-public client information.
• Align recruitment and internal mobility with the established KYC FLU location strategy.
• Foster a culture rooted in high output and cross-team collaboration.
Required Skills:
• A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of professional experience.
• Previous experience in a client-facing position within financial services or a related sector.
• Highly Preferred: Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation.
• Comprehensive understanding of AML CDD standards, industry best practices, and global legal entity structures.
• A demonstrated, unwavering focus on client service excellence.
• Proficiency in foreign languages is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Proven ability to operate effectively across different regions and global business lines.
• Understanding of how specific client portfolios contribute to the bank’s broader growth strategy.
• Ability to grasp the “big picture” while working effectively without constant supervision.
• Talent for building and maintaining robust professional relationships at every organizational level.
• Superior interpersonal skills to drive motivation, teamwork, and encouragement.
• Professionalism characterized by composure, patience, and a constructive attitude.
• Analytical problem-solving skills, utilizing research and past experience to resolve complex issues.
• Adaptability to manage multiple projects and thrive within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Proactive “self-starter” mentality with the initiative to improve processes and assist colleagues.
• High-level organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Fluency in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese is highly desirable.
