Aon
Job Description
Aon is seeking a high-caliber Client Director for Natural Resources to spearhead the client service strategy for the UK industry. This brand-new, hybrid role is a strategic appointment designed to bridge the gap between traditional energy sectors and the rapidly expanding “new energy” segments (such as renewables, hydrogen, and carbon capture).
As a Client Director, you will have the autonomy to shape Aon’s market presence, leading high-value relationships and driving growth in one of the most complex risk environments globally. You will be part of a team that values “better decisions,” working to protect and enrich the lives of people through sophisticated risk management and insurance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
-
Strategic Account Leadership: Lead client portfolio planning, ensuring robust account plans, revenue tracking, and compliance across a diverse book of Natural Resources clients.
-
Growth & Business Development: Drive regional growth by leading high-stakes tenders, identifying organic expansion opportunities, and collaborating on cross-Aon initiatives.
-
Strategic Relationship Management: Build “C-suite” level relationships, proactively engaging clients on Risk Management, Claims, Premium Finance, and bespoke Aon solutions.
-
Collaboration: Partner with Commercial Risk teams, industry leaders, and external partners like Genpact to ensure a seamless and consistent global service model.
-
Thought Leadership: Act as an industry ambassador, contributing to marketing initiatives, industry events, and thought leadership that enhances Aon’s brand visibility.
-
Culture Champion: Promote an environment of innovation, accountability, and a “growth mindset” across the internal team.
Skills & Experience for Success
-
Expertise: Advanced technical insurance knowledge with a focus on Natural Resources (ACII or equivalent qualification is highly desirable).
-
Relationship Management: Exceptional ability to translate complex business risks into trusted, actionable advice for senior stakeholders.
-
Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of insurance market dynamics, industry forces, and the competitive landscape.
-
Growth Mindset: A proven track record of driving new business and successfully negotiating complex fee structures.
-
Leadership: Strong collaborative skills with a focus on continuous improvement and people development.
Industry Context: The Natural Resources Landscape
The Natural Resources sector is currently navigating a dual challenge: maintaining traditional energy security while accelerating the transition to net-zero.
