Expert Analysis
Working “within the gate” at Liverpool Docks is a distinct advantage for HGV drivers in 2026. Unlike long-haul roles, dock shunting avoids motorway congestion and ensures predictable finish times. The £21.85 Sunday rate is highly competitive for the Merseyside region, especially with the 8-hour minimum guarantee.
Location & Logistics Guide
The Port of Liverpool (Seaforth Dock) is the primary work location. Accessible via the A565, it is a high-security environment. Drivers should allow extra time for port security clearance. The site is a 10-minute drive from the M57/M58 switch island, making it accessible from across the North West.

Career Path
Experienced dock drivers often transition into specialized port logistics roles or heavy-haulage positions. The tipper training provided here is a valuable “ticket” that opens doors to construction and aggregate sectors. Adapt Logistics also offers pathways into “tramping” or Class 1 long-haul roles for those seeking different challenges.
