Rodgers Leask, an award-winning multidisciplinary consultancy, is seeking an ambitious Civil Engineer to join our established team in Longbridge, Birmingham. With decades of experience across diverse sectors, we pride ourselves on delivering imaginative, cost-effective, and buildable engineering solutions.
This is a permanent role for a professional who enjoys a “hands-on” approach to design while maintaining the commercial awareness needed to manage projects from concept to completion. Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Design: Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering solutions for a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, and industrial.

Regulatory Compliance: Navigate and secure approvals for Section Agreements, ensuring all designs meet statutory requirements.

Technical Modeling: Utilize industry-standard software to create robust drainage and highway models.

Project Management: Take autonomy over your own projects, managing timelines, budgets, and client expectations.

Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, local authorities, and contractors.
Your Toolkit for Success

Experience: 3+ years of UK design consultancy experience within the civil engineering sector.

Technical Proficiency: Fully conversant in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and InfoDrainage (or MicroDrainage equivalents).

Legal Knowledge: Practical experience with the following Section Agreements is essential:

S278/S38: Highway works and adoption.

S104/S185: Sewer adoption and diversions.

Communication: Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain complex technical designs to non-engineering stakeholders.

Commercial Mindset: An understanding of project profitability and a desire to remain engaged in the full project lifecycle.

In this role, your expertise in the various “Sections” of UK law will be the backbone of project delivery:

| Section 278 | Highways Act 1980 | Alterations or improvements to the existing public highway. |
| Section 104 | Water Industry Act 1991 | Adoption of new sewers by the Water Authority. |
| Section 106 | Town & Country Planning Act | Developer contributions for local infrastructure (Open spaces, schools). |
