Charge Nurse (Mental Health) – Mulberry Ward
NHS Tayside is offering a 6-month secondment opportunity for a committed and resilient Charge Nurse to join the team at Mulberry Ward within the Carseview Centre, Dundee. This ward provides vital recovery-focused care for patients experiencing acute or enduring mental health challenges. As a Charge Nurse, you will be a key clinical leader, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring that care delivery remains compassionate, safe, and effective within a challenging but rewarding environment.
Core Requirements and Skills

Professional Registration: Must be currently registered on Sub-part 1: RN3 of the UK NMC Register (Mental Health Nursing).

Clinical Leadership: Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and support the growth of strong interpersonal relationships.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to coordinate complex care plans and liaise with families and external clinical networks.

Secondment Approval: Current NHS Tayside employees must obtain written approval from their line manager prior to applying.
Key Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight: Leading ward activities and ensuring recovery-focused treatment plans are implemented effectively for patients with acute mental health needs.

Team Development: Supporting the Senior Charge Nurse (SCN) in staff reviews, clinical supervision, and fostering a culture of continuous in-service training.

MDT Collaboration: Working alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers to ensure holistic patient care.

Safety & Governance: Maintaining high standards of ward security and patient safety, ensuring compliance with all mental health legislation and Trust policies.

Advocacy: Acting as a point of escalation for patients and their carers, ensuring their voices are central to the recovery process.
