About the Role
As a Case Administrator, you are the backbone of the probation team. You will work in a variety of settings—from Courts and Prisons to Probation Delivery Units—ensuring that the complex administrative processes behind offender management run seamlessly. You aren’t just filing paperwork; you are managing sensitive information that informs legal decisions and community safety. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate systems, collating vital probation data for case files, and serving as a key point of communication for colleagues, partner agencies, and people on probation in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Process Efficiency: Managing administrative workflows to ensure all probation processes run smoothly and meet statutory deadlines.

Information Management: Collating and preparing critical probation information and data for case files used by Probation Officers.

System Maintenance: Ensuring internal databases and case management systems are kept accurate and up-to-date.

Communication: Handling diverse enquiries from professional agencies, colleagues, and people on probation with professionalism and empathy.

Multi-Setting Support: Providing support across various functions, including Public Protection, Courts, Unpaid Work (Community Payback), and the Homeless Prevention Taskforce.
Requirements & Person Specification

Personal Qualities: Empathetic, patient, and highly organized with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for a busy, high-stakes environment.

Adaptability: Ability to work effectively across different locations (Courts, Prisons, or Offices) as required by business needs.

Eligibility: You must have the right to work in the UK. Note: This role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas (effective July 22, 2025).

Selection Process: Success in the Civil Service Judgement Test (CSJT) and an assessment against Civil Service Behaviours and Experience.
