Business Analyst (Retail & Commercial Banking) – 12-Month Work Placement

Join HSBC, one of the world’s leading financial services organizations, for a high-impact 12-month industrial placement starting in June 2026. Based in our UK headquarters at 1 Centenary Square, Birmingham, you will be embedded within our Commercial Banking division.

This isn’t just a “shadowing” opportunity. As a Business Analyst intern, you will be the engine room of a relationship management team, helping to protect and grow deep, trusted connections with businesses ranging from local SMEs to global corporates. You will learn how to navigate a complex global matrix, working across functions like Legal, Credit, and Risk to deliver “out of the ordinary” financial solutions.

Your Impact & Daily Journey

• Client Stewardship: Act as the vital link between HSBC and its clients, gaining deep insights into their business models, supply chains, and growth ambitions.

• Financial Orchestration: Assist in the preparation of high-stakes client presentations, strategic pitches, and detailed credit papers.

• Analytical Rigor: Conduct real-world financial analysis and risk assessments on client portfolios, identifying opportunities for sustainable finance solutions like green bonds.

• Collaborative Networking: Partner with Relationship Managers and technical specialists to ensure HSBC delivers the right product at the precise moment a client needs it.

• Strategic Support: Participate in portfolio reviews and contribute to the bank’s mission of safeguarding client legacies.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• Academic Standing: Currently an undergraduate student on track for a 2:1 degree classification or higher.

• Timing: You must be able to complete this as a sandwich year placement as part of your degree, graduating in 2028.

• Availability: Ready to work full-time for 12 months starting June 2026.

• Language: Professional fluency in English.
