About the Role

We are seeking a talented British Sign Language (BSL) Sessional Tutor to join our teaching pool in Leeds. In this role, you will be more than just an instructor; you will be a facilitator of inclusion and communication. You will design and deliver engaging BSL courses to diverse groups of adult learners, many of whom may face significant barriers to education. We are looking for a creative educator who can adapt to various learning styles and differentiate teaching for mixed-ability groups. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging teaching, learning, and assessment with a creative and supportive approach.

  • Adapt delivery to a range of learning styles and differentiate for learners with mixed abilities.

  • Design and implement innovative learning materials, including Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans.

  • Utilize initial assessment and diagnostic tools to support learner progression.

  • Ensure all delivery adheres to the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement) framework.

  • Maintain the highest quality standards in line with the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF).

  • Collaborate with the wider WEA team to support organizational goals and learner success.

As a Sessional Tutor, You Should Have

  • Qualifications: A teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DET, or equivalent). A Level 5 specialism, IQA, or Assessor qualifications are highly advantageous.

  • Adult Education Experience: Proven experience working with adults in hard-to-reach areas or those facing multiple barriers.

  • Technical Knowledge: A thorough understanding of RARPA and the quality processes that underpin adult community learning.

  • Regulatory Awareness: Strong working knowledge of the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework.

  • Personal Attributes: A strong teamwork ethic, a structured approach to problem-solving, and a genuine passion for adult education.
