About the Role

As a Live Bird Intake Officer, you are the gatekeeper of our intake process. Working a consistent Monday to Friday (17:45 – 02:00) shift, you will manage the logistics and documentation for all bird arrivals. Your role is a balance of administrative precision and operational oversight—ensuring biosecurity protocols are met, welfare checks are documented, and the flow of trailers remains synchronized with production needs. You will be the point of contact between farm data and factory systems, ensuring every trailer is weighed, verified, and processed with the highest care.

Key Responsibilities

• Logistics & Flow: Maintain the steady flow of trailers into the factory to support uninterrupted production.

• Welfare & Compliance: Oversee the unloading of birds and ensure 100% completion of welfare checks and biosecurity protocols.

• Data Management: Transfer records from farms to factory systems, verifying all computer records for accuracy and weighing trailers in/out.

• Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with Process 1 managers to coordinate bird numbers and intake schedules.

• Safety & Environment: Report breakdowns or discrepancies immediately and uphold rigorous Health & Safety and housekeeping standards in the yard and lairage areas.

What We Are Looking For

• Essential Skills: * Literacy and numeracy (ability to read/understand English).

  • Computer literacy for data entry and record management.

  • Manual dexterity and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • A team-player mindset with strong communication skills.

• Desirable Qualities: * Previous experience in a poultry or food factory environment.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety standards.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for liaising with drivers and managers.
