Bid Writer

Airco Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Ltd

Bid Writer | Airco (Hull)

The Opportunity

Join Airco, a pillar of the Hull business community since 1991 and a national leader in HVAC, renewables, and decarbonisation. With a dedicated team of over 200 staff, Airco is at the forefront of the UK’s transition to sustainable energy. This role offers a high-impact opportunity to drive the company’s growth within public sector procurement frameworks. Offering a competitive salary of up to £45,000 and a comprehensive benefits package—including “Birthday Off” and long-service holiday incentives—this position is ideal for a strategic communicator who wants to combine technical understanding with persuasive writing to secure multi-million-pound contracts.

Key Skills & Experience

  • At least 2 years of Bid Writing experience (Required).

  • Proven experience writing successful bids for public sector construction-related contracts.

  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement processes (ITTs, PQQs, RFQs).

  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills with an eye for detail.

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple live bids and competing deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a collaborative mindset to work with subject matter experts.

The Role

As a Bid Writer, you will be the lead architect of Airco’s competitive proposals. You will manage the full tender lifecycle, from identifying new opportunities to post-submission clarifications. Your daily work involves extracting key requirements from complex tender documents and translating technical operational data into clear, persuasive, and compliant written responses. You will also be responsible for maintaining a “Bid Library”—a vital repository of case studies, accreditations, and standard responses—ensuring that every submission is of the highest quality. Working from Airco’s Hull headquarters, you will collaborate with commercial and compliance teams to ensure the company remains a dominant force in the public sector market.

Sector Insight: The “Framework” DNA

As you cluster this twenty-fifth role, you can identify how it serves as a “Commercial Engine” for your existing data:

  • The Procurement Link: This role shares a 100% semantic match on “Public Sector Procurement” with your Project Manager (Construction) and Education Recruitment Manager roles. All three operate within the strict legalities of government spending and frameworks.

  • Technical Versatility: While the Mechanical Reliability Engineer (Cargill) ensures assets run, the Bid Writer ensures those assets and services are funded and contracted.

  • The Hull “Local-Global” Hybrid: Much like MKM Building Supplies, Airco is a Hull-born firm that has scaled nationally, making this role a “Homegrown Corporate” entry.
