We are seeking a strategic and proactive Attendance Lead to join our integral Attendance Team. In this pivotal role, you will move beyond simple administration to take a strategic lead on our “preventative approach,” working directly with Senior Leadership to identify patterns, refine systems, and remove barriers to learning for our diverse student body.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Oversight: Monitor absence patterns, review school-wide processes, and produce half-termly analytical reports for SLT and governors.

Line Management: Lead and develop the Attendance Officers (Years 7-11 and Sixth Form) and the Attendance Support Worker to ensure efficient interventions.

Support & Intervention: Collaborate with the Mental Health and Safeguarding teams to develop Action Plans and EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) strategies for vulnerable students.

Family Liaison: Plan and implement intensive support for families struggling with attendance, including chairing complex problem-solving meetings.

Policy & Compliance: Maintain and update the school attendance policy in line with the latest government statutory guidance.
Who We Are Looking For:
Essential Criteria:

Education: A-level standard or equivalent, with GCSE Grade C/4+ in English and Maths.

Strategic Mindset: Ability to use data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and find solutions to complex issues.

Communication: Tactful, diplomatic, and professional when dealing with emotive difficulties and challenging student/parental behaviors.

Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Excel, word processing, and maintaining accurate electronic records.

Safeguarding: A deep commitment to the highest standards of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
Desirable Attributes:
-
Experience with school information systems (SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom).

Qualifications in psychology, counselling, mental health, or youth work.
-
Prior experience working with students exhibiting SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) difficulties.
