Associate, FIG DCM | Northern European Focus

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is rapidly expanding its European investment banking footprint. We are seeking a high-caliber Associate to join our Debt Capital Markets (DCM) division in London, specifically focusing on our Northern European Financial Institutions Group (FIG).

This is a pivotal time for Santander. As we aggressively grow our market share in the Nordics, DACH, France, and Benelux, you will be at the heart of the execution and origination of major bond transactions. Based in our Triton Square (London) headquarters, you will support senior bankers in managing elite issuer relationships while progressively taking ownership of your own client coverage and junior-level deal execution.

Your Strategic Impact

• Deal Execution Lead: Take the lead on the day-to-day execution of bond issuances (EUR, USD, GBP), coordinating with Syndicate, Sales, Trading, and legal counsel from kick-off to completion.

• Regional Growth: Drive the expansion of Santander’s institutional issuer base across Northern Europe, with focused regional coverage in France, Benelux, Nordics, or DACH.

• Trade Origination: Generate and market innovative new-issue trade ideas (public and private debt) based on current market intelligence and investor dynamics.

• Strategic Advisory: Collaborate with internal experts in Capital Solutions and Liability Management to deliver balance sheet optimization and strategic capital advice.

• Content Excellence: Produce high-quality, impactful client materials, including market updates, strategic pitch decks, and complex transaction documentation.

• Team Leadership: Act as a mentor and technical guide for the Analyst pool, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and professional development within the squad.

What You Bring to the Team

• Experience: Solid experience in Debt Capital Markets, ideally within a FIG-focused environment.

• Market Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the Northern European FIG landscape (issuers, regulatory regimes, and investor preferences).

• Execution Track Record: Proven ability to own the end-to-end bond issuance process, both internally and externally.

• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of capital markets mechanics and the ability to work under high pressure with uncompromising quality.

• Communication: Exceptional presentation skills. English fluency is mandatory, but additional languages (French, German, or Spanish) are highly desirable for regional coverage.
