Job Description

Turner & Townsend is looking for an Associate Director of Estimating to join our Infrastructure team in Manchester. As a global leader in professional services and a majority-owned subsidiary of CBRE, we manage some of the world’s most complex infrastructure projects across rail, air, power, and highways. In this senior leadership role, you won’t just be managing numbers; you will be managing people, leading high-value bids, and shaping the estimating standards for major UK and international programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Manage the production of comprehensive estimates, from initial “Order of Magnitude” through to detailed “First Principles” builds.

  • Business Development: Collaborate with Directors to construct bids for new work and proactively identify cross-selling opportunities across the CBRE/T&T network.

  • Assurance & Quality: Lead estimating assurance processes to ensure data integrity and accuracy for major programme setups.

  • Mentorship: Act as a role model and direct manager for junior staff, fostering technical excellence within the Manchester hub.

  • Client Interface: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and consultants throughout all project stages.

  • Best Practice: Drive the development of departmental objectives and promote estimating “good practice” internally.

Requirements

  • Proven Expertise: Extensive Estimating Management experience specifically within the Infrastructure sector (Rail, Aviation, Power, or Highways).

  • Education & Chartership: High-standard qualification in Estimating or Quantity Surveying. Membership in RICS, CIOB, or A.Cost.E is highly desirable.

  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of industry-standard estimating software packages.

  • Major Projects: A track record of delivering on Major Programmes and managing multidisciplinary teams.

  • Compliance: Familiarity with SOX controls, as adherence to these responsibilities is a requirement of the role.
