Workforce & Diversity Statistics
ESPO is a public sector partnership. As an inclusive employer, they provide data on their workforce composition to ensure they reflect the diverse community of Leicestershire:
-
Ethnic Diversity: In the local Enderby/Blaby area, approximately 10–12% of the population is from an ethnically diverse background. ESPO actively encourages these applications to ensure a balanced workforce.
-
Disability: Around 7% of Leicestershire County Council-affiliated employees (including ESPO) identify as having a disability.
-
Gender: Warehouse environments traditionally lean male, but ESPO reports a growing percentage of women in supervisory roles within their logistics division.
-
Economic Impact: ESPO manages over £1 billion in annual spend for public bodies, making this warehouse a critical piece of UK public infrastructure.
Perks & Benefits
-
Leave: 25 days annual leave (rising to 30) + bank holidays.
-
Pension: Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), which is one of the most generous defined-benefit schemes in the UK.
-
Location: Situated at Grove Park (near Fosse Park), offering free parking and easy access to the M1/M69.
Summary of the Role
This is a “boots on the ground” leadership role. You aren’t just managing people; you are managing the flow of goods to schools and hospitals. Because ESPO is a public body, the work culture is often more stable and offers better long-term benefits than private-sector “gig economy” warehouses.
Quick Tip: In your supporting statement, emphasize your experience with KPIs. Give a specific example of how you motivated a team to hit a difficult “Goods Out” deadline during a peak period (like the “Back to School” rush in August).
