FAQs
What is the required industry background?
Candidates must have previous experience working in a sheet metal environment to be considered for this role.
Does this role involve office work or floor work?
It is a hybrid of both. You will provide “day-to-day guidance” to the shop floor while also producing high-level performance reports and dashboards in Excel.
What are the leadership requirements?
You must have experience in a supervisory capacity, including the ability to complete disciplinaries and monitor team productivity.
Is this a temporary-to-permanent role?
No, this is a “straight permanent” role with the client, meaning you are hired directly by the company from day one.
What software proficiency is needed?
A high level of competence in Excel and MS Office is essential, alongside experience using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
Expert Analysis
This role is a significant step-up for a Senior Supervisor or Team Leader looking to enter middle management. In the sheet metal industry, “tonnage and recovery rates” are the lifeblood of profitability; therefore, the emphasis on Excel and ERP suggests the client is looking for a manager who leads with data rather than just intuition. The standard 08:30–17:00 hours are quite favorable for a management-level position in the Black Country industrial sector.
Location & Logistics Guide
Willenhall is a historic heartland of the UK’s metalworking industry, located between Wolverhampton and Walsall. Its proximity to the M6 (Junction 10) makes it a primary logistical hub for the West Midlands, allowing for efficient distribution of heavy sheet metal components across the country.

Career Path
An Assistant Production Manager in this sector typically progresses to Production Manager or Operations Manager. Given the focus on Lean methodologies and data analysis, this role also provides an excellent foundation for moving into Continuous Improvement (CI) Lead or Site Lead positions within larger engineering groups.
