Disclosure Support Officer – Army Operational Legacy Branch

About the Role
Reporting to the Disclosure Team Manager, you will be one of two Disclosure Support Officers tasked with managing the sensitive transition of historical records into the public domain. You will enjoy considerable autonomy in managing your own schedule while collaborating closely with your colleagues to meet the requirements of major organizations like the Omagh Bombing Inquiry, the Northern Ireland Coroner Service, and the ICRIR. Your day-to-day will involve high-stakes document review and redaction, requiring you to navigate both the historical and current contexts of the Troubles with sensitivity and initiative.
Key Responsibilities

Document Examination: Reviewing a wide range of sensitive records to identify information required for disclosure or legal inquiry.

Redaction: Applying precise redactions to documents to protect sensitive information while ensuring the Ministry of Defence meets its legal obligations.

Schedule Creation: Assisting in the development of comprehensive document schedules for release to judicial and inquiry bodies.

Information Retrieval: Using various IT systems to organize, view, and prepare complex digital and physical records for distribution.

Stakeholder Support: Preparing critical documentation for high-profile external organizations, including the Northern Ireland Coroner Service.

Contextual Analysis: Using your own initiative to understand the historical context and potential impact of the documents you handle.
